Fatal Head-On Collision Claims Life of Greenville Man

GREENVILLE, Ky. (March 28, 2025) – One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision early Friday morning on Highway 181, just south of the Western Kentucky Parkway.

According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 2, the crash occurred at approximately 4:37 a.m. when the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Department requested KSP to investigate the incident.

Preliminary findings indicate that Tyler A. Caple, 22, of Cromwell, Ky., was driving a 2011 Buick Enclave southbound on Highway 181. Investigators say Caple reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing his vehicle to veer into the northbound lane. His vehicle struck a 2014 Mazda Two head-on, driven by Nevin P. Bard, 61, of Greenville, Ky.

Bard was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner.

Caple sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Muhlenberg County Hospital for treatment.

The collision remains under investigation by KSP Accident Reconstructionist Brian Graves.
