MADISONVILLE, KY – Madisonville Community College, in partnership with the MLK Endowed Scholarship Fund of Hopkins County and the Community Foundation of West Kentucky, proudly awarded scholarships to two outstanding students, Aleah Nix and Josh Givens, during the college’s on-campus Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on January 15, 2025.
Aleah Nix, pursuing Fixed Wing Flight Training, and Josh Givens, enrolled in the Nursing Integrated Program, exemplify the values and ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Both students have demonstrated a commitment to serving their communities and making a positive impact on the lives of others.

The MLK Endowed Scholarship recognizes students who uphold Dr. King’s vision of service, equality, and leadership. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled at MCC for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, and be in good academic standing. Applicants were required to submit a 200-word essay detailing how their lives mirror Dr. King’s principles, including service to others and efforts to improve the world around them.
Madisonville Community College and the Community Foundation of West Kentucky have partnered for years to support students who exhibit academic promise, leadership, and dedication to building a diverse and inclusive community. The scholarship provides vital support to students who embody the legacy of Dr. King.
